<p>Winston Churchill once said, “For myself, I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else.” Think about it and let it sink for a while.  Do you get any real benefit from furrowing your brow and etching lines into your forehead? Is that heavy feeling one you yearn to keep you company through all your days? No. No one wants to feel such baggage when they have nothing on their hands. People want to feel light, joyous and truly alive.</p>
<p>Laughter is the best medicine. It’s been said by many on many an occasion. Some may shrug it off and though it may not exactly be the sought after cure for the common cold, it has some bearing. Certain studies show that the optimism and pessimism influence your health and well-being. So let’s look into a few reasons why this attitude</p>
<p>Positive Thinking Pros</p>
<p>Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you have to go overboard and smile at anything and everything that comes your way. Positive thinking is not losing your head in bad situations. This is a state of mind where you are realistic. You know that there are things abound that you wouldn’t readily describe as desirable circumstances and instead of letting it get you down, you take it all head on.</p>
<p>Studies show that optimism or thinking positive thoughts have a good effect on not just our emotions but our physical well-being as well. It has many health benefits. With positive thoughts come longevity, better coping skills and less distress and depression. It also decreases the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, gives you not only better psychological but also physical well-being and wouldn’t you know it, it also gives you better resistance to the common cold!</p>
<p>Reasoning behind It</p>
<p>No one knows for sure why those who have such a mindset reap these benefits. It is thought that with such an outlook, you cope with stress better, minimizing its harmful effects. Also, people who go on thinking positive thoughts seem to live lifestyles that are healthier overall. They eat better, exercise more and are less prone to drink and smoke.</p>
<p>In truth, we don’t need studies to research on positive thoughts and how it affects our well-being. It isn’t very hard to see where optimism takes us. From what Churchill said, it’s true, what else can we do? Instead of asking, “why go for positive thinking” ask, “why not?” We can let the baggage go. It is all about opening up our minds, embracing reality and facing life’s challenges head on, seeing it as a chance to better ourselves instead of life’s punishment. By opening ourselves to life, we can stop merely existing and start truly living.</p>

<p>Mahatma Gandhi once said, “A man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks, he becomes.” Taking that idea into consideration, when we think thoughts of failure, don’t we end up demoralized, helpless and, in effect, fail by doing so? And when we aspire for more, believe that we cannot be bound; do we not turn out to be ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things?</p>
<p>Why Bother?</p>
<p>What we feel, believe and know rest in what we think. Though sometimes you feel helpless, you’re very much in control of yourself. It is our choice of which state we’d like to fall into. A lot of times, it’s just about the attitude. In life, intelligence or talent can only get you so far. If you’re pessimistic, sooner or later, the negativity would get the better of you and whatever gift you have would be put to waste. However, with positive thinking or the right attitude, you’ll find yourself tackling whatever life throws at you regardless of your smarts or abilities. In school, it’s about the grades but you won’t get the grades without the right attitude. In the real world, you get the job with what you’ve done with school but what keeps you there is the E.Q. and where do we attribute that? It’s thanks to positive thinking as well.</p>
<p>The Tactic</p>
<p>To get along well with positive thinking you have to take certain steps. First of which is to commit. Give yourself to it. Bring the optimism in everything you do. Don’t split yourself and put fifty percent into family and fifty percent into everything else, because what is fifty percent? It is mediocrity. Go beyond. Excel with optimism by practicing it.</p>
<p>Next, you have to know you’re in control. Structure your life. Don’t believe that life is a result of everything just changing as you wait for it all to affect you. Take life and make it yours. Don’t let chaos reign within you.</p>
<p>Finally, challenge yourself. Winston Churchill once said that “the pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Be realistic. Know you won’t have the best mindset overnight but believe and take steps to embrace positive thinking. Take opportunities to better yourself and instead of criticizing yourself, take the chance to better yourself instead.</p>
<p>How you want your life to be is in your hands. We have no control over everything, but we do have control over ourselves. Nothing can limit us but ourselves. Think positive, commit to thinking positive and challenge yourself to improve yourself. Upon achieving the right mindset, everything else would follow.</p>

<p>Negative thinking disorders are disorders that branch from extreme anxiety and are most commonly termed as anxiety disorders. Under this particular kind of disorder are disorders like obsessive compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress, panic disorder and social phobia. It’s the negative thinking in these negative thinking disorders or anxiety disorders that feeds the anxiety causing it to grow. This disorder is rooted in our thoughts. To cure it, we must change our negative thoughts into positive ones with ways like cognitive therapy.</p>
<p>It’s All the Same and Holding On</p>
<p>People who suffer from such negative thinking disorders believe that everything will stay the same and it would always be bad – nothing changes. By taking such a belief into their system of thinking, they’re closing doors or ways to get help. Treatment for such disorders is a slow process exacerbated by holding onto their disorder.</p>
<p>Speaking of holding on, with these types of disorders, people suffering from it hold on to traumatizing or horrible experiences. By doing so, they make it harder for themselves to escape the vicious cycle of negativity and anxiety. These negative thoughts are the main power source of these disorders as they are perpetually being thought of. It’s one thing to hold onto a memory but another situation completely when you obsess over it and fall trapped to a destructive thought cycle. Not only does it interrupt your daily life, it also tampers with your logic and may cause you to steer clear of certain situations and in effect limit you.</p>
<p>Absolutes</p>
<p>Those suffering from negative thinking disorders think in absolutes or extremes. They see that there can only be a completely bad or a completely good situation. This can be particularly difficult to deal with as they usually see the negative part of things more and magnify them, overshadowing whatever positive there is. To adjust to average thought, they must understand that worrying is completely normal to an extent and that there would always be pros and cons or good and bad in situations. They must know that whatever con or bad there is should not control or limit them. They must find what it is that’s causing them the panic attacks and obsessive thinking and avoid feeling helpless or powerless. We should all know that we are in control.</p>
<p>Negative thinking disorders may take different forms and magnitudes but one element stays the same – the negative thinking. Medication may help but at the end of the day, whatever happens, it’s something we have to sort out in our minds. Early intervention is best and being open to treatment would certainly make sure that progress would move along as it should. Life is good, it may not be easy but it is good. Discover it.</p>

<p>Negative thoughts are like termites that eat at you from within your core. You need to learn how to stop this train of negative thoughts and adapt a new perspective on things.</p>
<p>The best way how to dispel negative thoughts would be to replace them. Remember that no two objects can occupy the same place at the same time? Well, the same principle applies with your thoughts as well. Simply ignoring the thought will only cause it to come back stronger than ever and more insistent as well. Negative thoughts thrive not only at your attention but also when you just flat out ignore them as well. So, to make sure that these thoughts do not haunt you, you must be able to replace them with something else. That way, your consciousness will be occupied by something and negative thoughts will no longer have space to settle in. No matter how much nudging and pushing these negative thoughts do when a positive thought is already well seated in your mind, it won’t have any effect on you at all. Negative thoughts will then slowly disappear from your mind.</p>
<p>Once you catch yourself thinking something negative, immediately kill that thought and think about something positive. For example you think that you shouldn’t try out for something because you might fail. Thoughts about not being good creep into your head and you start getting desperate and hopeless. You must squash this feelings and thoughts immediately. Think about how much you’ll learn from the experience and how this experience will change your life. The outcome wouldn’t matter so much if you put focus into the experience itself. Believe in yourself and your abilities and this experience will turn out in the best way possible.</p>
<p>When you begin to think positive, you find that you now rarely catch yourself thinking about negative things. This is how you’ll be able to say that you have mastered how to dispel negative thoughtsgets damaged and everything starts crumbling down.  This is why you should learn how to dispel negative thoughts. You need to learn how to stop this train of negative thoughts and adapt a new perspective on things.</p>
<p>Learning to see things in a new light is hard but with determination and practice, you will be able to have an insight that will change your life forever. When you know how to dispel negative thoughts, you learn to bring happiness into your life. You begin to open doors to all the possibilities and opportunities that come knocking. <p>Here are some positive thinking tips and tricks that can help you reach your full potential and attain all the goals you&#8217;ve ever set for yourself. Create a scrapbook for your dreams and goals in life. Better yet, put up a bulletin board in your room for your goals, this way, you can always see it. Use a lot of pictures and if you have the talent, draw what you want in life. Use ribbons, fabric, pressed flowers, whatever you can to make it as creative but still realistic as possible. Having a visual and concrete depiction of your dreams in life makes it real to you and at the same time makes you realize that these things are within your grasp. All you have to do is to reach out and take it, own it and believe that you are meant for this. You deserve to get what you really want in your life.</p>
<p>Get out of your routine and start trying out new things, things you&#8217;ve either always wanted to do or things that scare you. You can start by waking up an hour early so you could take another route to school or work. Don&#8217;t use the highway; instead go for a nice leisurely ride along the countryside. Go for a walk instead of taking a ride, you never know what you could meet along the way. Remember the old saying about stopping and smelling the roses? That&#8217;s exactly what you should do.</p>
<p>A couple of positive thinking tips and tricks involve keeping a healthy body. This is another reason why you should exercise. Exercise promotes the release of endorphins, or what they call happy-hormones because they uplift your spirits and give you a sense of happiness. This also helps you relax despite all the stressors in your life.</p>
<p>Fall in love, don&#8217;t be afraid of loving. Spread the love that you have inside of you and it will come back to you tenfold. Smile and be nice to anyone since they may also help you out. Enjoy the company of your loved ones and spend quality time together.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Is it truly possible to be the master of every thought that you chose to enter your mind or not, as the case may be? To be able to filter out all  unwanted and unproductive thoughts automatically without too much conscious thought so they pop in and pop right out again in the blink of an eye? Sounds like a tall order doesn&#8217;t it.</p>
<p>The mind seems to act like some restless creature that won&#8217;t lie still and be tamed sometimes, constantly on the go, flitting from one notion to the next at random. In fact most of our bodies functions are done without any real conscious thought from breathing and walking to heartbeat and blood flow around the body. So it is with the involutary nature of our thoughts. They are sometimes like unwanted guests, just coming in sitting down for a bit, making a mess, then waltzing off again.</p>
<p>Our minds cannot help but think about what ever it sees, analyzes,questions and reasons it, before it &#8220;rates&#8221; its importance. Your mind processes this information almost instantaneously and decides on this importance rating by using a &#8220;filtering&#8221; system. Everyone&#8217;s filters are different and account for why some people will attach such significance to one subject, while for someone else, that same subject will hold none whatsoever.</p>
<p>Our filter settings began to be set in, you&#8217;ve probably guessed it, our childhood years-and have been undergoing a process of fine-tuning ever since. Every thought, word, occurence or experience has an effect on our minds and conditions our thoughts. These thoughts are thus produced non-stop and we seemingly bath in a sea of them. This incessant flow of thought requires a lot of energy and can occupy a lot a time.</p>
<p>Unfortunately the thoughts produced are mostly fairly unuseful or negative thoughts, and in this scenario too many of them can feel like we are being overwhelmed by too much of this kind of thinking, and a sense that we are &#8220;drowning&#8221; in this sea of negative thoughts. This can lead to a sense of helplessness, that feeling of having little or no control over what thoughts enter our minds.</p>
<p>Being constantly dogged by unwanted and negative thoughts is a form of enslavement. These obsessional notions and mental mind games can begin to affect our health and lead to forms of mental illness such as anxiety and depression.</p>
<p>But this should not be. Why let our thoughts rule us when our minds should be their master? Why not be at liberty to enjoy only beneficial and desirable thoughts that will bestow inner peace rather than your mind bossing you with relentless and mostly futile work?  The state whereby you can chose which thoughts enter your mind and which don&#8217;t is true freedom.</p>
<p>Using the untamed animal analagy, you can train your mind using concentration exercises and meditation techniques to attain the self discipline and obedience required to &#8220;bring your mind to heel&#8221;,  and make it stop the flow of unecessary and negative thoughts from entering it. If you put in the effort to achieve this you can realise true mental mastery.</p>
