Self- confidence is having the confidence in one self. You believe in your capabilities in succeeding whether the results turn out to be a positive or a negative outcome. You may realize that self- confidence is important in your life but may find it hard to boost your self- confidence. Laid out in this article are six ways to boost self- confidence. It is simple and easy to remember.<br />
Six ways to boost self- confidence:<br />
Perform small pep talks with yourself<br />
Performing small pep talks with yourself known as self- talk and also known as Mantra to the Hindus, is good training for yourself to boost your self- confidence that comes from your inner self. Chanting repeated positive words can change your perception on a specific challenge. The simple word “yes” is one positive word you can repeat over and over. Before you know it, it will boost you to think that you can conquer this challenge that lead you to perform the very best you can. It does not pay to think positively, actually it helps. Being optimistic on a day to day basis would attract positive energy to boost your self- confidence.<br />
Projecting a good image<br />
You may come to think that not all people dressing with the nicest clothes and having a healthy lifestyle are self- confident. You may be amazed that by actually projecting a good image would make you feel confident. Being able to be hygienic – grooming by shaving and showering would increase the way you look at yourself. The clothes you wear must project that you are person with class and style. Of course your image would not be complete without a good posture and manners.<br />
You should partner all these with creating a healthy lifestyle. Getting yourself to be in shape boosts your self- confidence. So you should get started with an exercise routine and start eating a balanced diet. It would not only boost your self confidence but it would also put you in the right track of preventing diseases.<br />
Setting goals<br />
Set goals for you to accomplish. It may be either a short term goal or a long term goal that you know you can benefit from. But remember that your goals have to be specific, time- bounded and attainable. Being able to accomplish goals that are in the line of things that you love is specific and can make it easier to attain. Time management is another key you need in order to attain your goals. Stop procrastinating. You must accomplish at least goals every day and you should be sure to follow them. Do not create goals that you know you cannot perform. This would only compromise your daily activities.<br />
Compete with your own self<br />
You are a unique in your own way. You have talents that are different from others, so use your talents well. Stop comparing yourself to others and start to concentrate on your positive attributes that can help you build your self- confidence. Comparing yourself would only lead you to confusion and uncertainty on your part. You should tell yourself – “If others can do it so can I.” Instead of asking yourself – “if others can do it, why can’t I?” The difference in the two statements is that if you tell yourself to do it you are challenging yourself to do better but if you ask yourself, you are comparing yourself to others.<br />
Surround yourself with people who affirm you<br />
The people around you can be an instrument to boost your self- confidence or put you down. People who give encouragement and who are supportive are the people who boost your self- confidence. People who put you down and doubt in your abilities is the people you should not hang out with.<br />
Self- evaluation<br />
Spend time to be able to evaluate your progress. Rewarding yourself for your accomplishments would be a good way to boost your self- confidence. You should continue to on or better yet improve more if you like how things turn out. A word of advice, you should accept myriad consequences whether it turns out good or bad. Don’t sulk when it turns out bad but make this a learning experience for you to improve.<br />

There are times when a person thinks that he lacks self- confidence to pursue a goal. Most of these persons are children and adolescents. If you are a parent and notice your children to lack self- confidence, you will want to share with them what you know to build their self- confidence. How to radiate self- confidence in a child is different on how to radiate confidence in an adolescent. They must be approached according to their thinking ability and the situations they are in are solved differently since they undergo different dilemmas.<br />
Here are ways on how to radiate self- confidence to your child.<br />
Praise your child for the things he has done. It may be in a form of giving your child positive spoken words or giving him material things as a reward.<br />
Be a role model to your child. Role modelling that you are a strong figure may give him a sense to become strong too.<br />
Make your child perform simple decision making. Like making him choose eating an apple or an orange. This will give your child a sense of independence. When your child thinks that he is independent it will boost his self- confidence.<br />
When your child is stuck in a situation where he tells you “I can’t do it,” encourage him that he can, provide a realistic achievement, help him then make him do it himself. For example your child is drawing then someone asks him to draw something he is not able to draw and say “I can’t do it.” Tell him that he was able to draw the other figures and can draw what is being said. You can lead his hands to draw the said figure or provide a picture he can follow. If you are finished leading him tell him to draw it on his own. Of course praise him.<br />
Here are some ways on how to radiate self- confidence to an adolescent.<br />
Adolescence is the period in one’s life where you need to search for who you are. For that, you will need to help them identify themselves. Tell them the qualities they have that you want them to keep as well as the qualities that you want them to change.<br />
Adolescence is also the period when your child loves it more to be with their friends rather than be with their family. You should allow your adolescent child to spend time with their friends. As a parent, setting limits will be normal but it should be mutual to each other’s convenience. Besides, making your child spend time with their friends will generate his self- confidence.<br />
When your adolescent child comes into a situation that makes him stressful, understand what he really feels and encourage him that he can make it.<br />
Do things that your adolescent child wants doing. By this, you can show them that you are also interested in their interests and at the same time initiate communication. Being able to communicate with them is crucial since adolescents don’t get to talk much about what they feel.<br />
Radiating self- confidence to your child depends on how you carry yourself. A child imitates what you say and do. So be conscious on how you project yourself. Be sure that you are confident yourself. Those are basically some ways on how to radiate self- confidence to your child and your adolescent child.</p>

It will be evident that you have little friends and are dependent on them to perform even simple tasks like asking for directions or using the ATM. Here are some tips you will need to learn on how to build social self- confidence.<br />
Admit that you need help.<br />
Admit to yourself that you need help in building your social self- confidence. Being depressed, having anxiety disorders or personality disorders depict a weak personality of a person. Despite social stigma of your mental health, it is wiser to seek professional help for enhanced coping. Surely when you admit that you need help, you will seek for help. Once you have sought for help, don’t be ashamed of your problem. You would want the people around you know that you have a problem so that they can help you. Besides, you are showing them that you have made a right decision in seeking professional help.<br />
Don’t worry of what other people think of you.</p>
<p>Think of it this way so that paranoia won’t strike you, other people are too busy in their jobs, families and own self to think about ways to criticize you. So there is nothing to worry about what other people think of you.</p>
<p>Don’t be scared to be rejected.</p>
<p>A lot of thoughts may bother you into thinking not to interact with other people. You may think that you are going to be rejected. Thinking like that would only crush your self- confidence. Why don’t you just try to speak up and overcome the feeling of rejection? The answer would always be no if you don’t say whatever you wanted to others and how you want things to be. Anxiety is good for you as long as your anxiety is mild. Mild anxiety helps in increasing your concentration on dealing with a stressful situation. You become alert and focused on things needed to be done. In contrast to self- confidence, mild anxiety boosts your self- confidence. You get to find yourself with a drive to accomplish what is to be done and expected of you. This is one way on how anxiety can affect your self- confidence.<br />
On the other hand, anxiety that turns into panic is not healthy for you when dealing with stressful situations. Panicking makes your perception narrowed to a degree where it will be hard for you to think of a way to get out of a situation you do not want to be in. You do not digest the advices and suggestions being said to you by other people. All you think of is how to free yourself. Decision making skills are lost, and once you make a wrong decision it will lead to another wrong decision that decreases your self- confidence. You would most likely say to yourself – “whatever I do, I am a failure.” That should not be your attitude. You need to help yourself cope up with the things that happen in your life.<br />
First of all, to fight anxiety that leads to decreasing your self- confidence, you need to find out who you are and what you are capable in doing. Reflect on what you know about yourself and what others see in you. Use the positive feedback to give you a sense of well- being to develop self- confidence. As for the negative feedback change to be a better person and prove others wrong. You get a positive feeling when you prove others wrong. It makes you smile and feel happy inside that increases your self- confidence.<br />
Second, you will need to start living a healthy lifestyle. If you smoke cigarettes, you better quit. Nicotine found in cigarettes is a stimulant that induces panic attacks. If you drink a lot of caffeinated drinks, you better cut down the number of cups. Caffeine, a stimulant as well, triggers panic attacks and gives you panic attack- like symptoms. Get a good night sleep. Sleeping within the average sleeping time will help in making your brain function well and rest your body for stress. Having a healthy lifestyle will not only prevent panic attacks but it will also boost your self- confidence.<br />
Third is to meditate. Meditation helps in clearing your mind from unwanted thoughts that get in the way of your daily work. When you meditate, think of positive thoughts, happy thoughts and your future plans. This will help you construct your own methods in order to meet your goals. It will give you the positive energy you need then you will feel confident enough.<br />

<p>Self- confidence is a child’s passport to success and accomplishment. As your child grows, self- confidence will help him have a sound mental health and it is the foundation that will drive him to succeed. Giving your child self- confidence would improve him to be capable in handling situations. Here are some ways of giving your child self- confidence.</p>
<p>You need to know that improving your own self- confidence would be a determinant on giving your child self- confidence. Self- confidence is acquired by your child, not inherited. A child would acquire patterns on how your deal with problems and what you do in certain situations by learning. If you don’t want the way you were raised by your parents then the best thing to do is alter these methods into ways you think would be appropriate. It is also wise not to be hard on your parents if you did not like the outcome because this feeling towards them would compromise your parenting methods. Take time to heal yourself, forgiving your parents for what you perceive as wrong parenting would be a good start.</p>
<p>Your child is someone who needs love. Show your child that you love him by simply telling your child that you love him, attending to his needs and praising your child for good deeds. Actually a child knows when to show- off, he also knows that he wants to be praised. When your child does something like set the table or give you a glass of water after eating, praise him. But when he does not do a good job about it, don’t scold him. Think about what he really wants to interpret by his actions. Like in example your child tries to wash the dishes without you telling him then accidentally breaks an expensive, Chinaware. Think that he wants you to appreciate his actions, so praise him then set limits. Tell him that he is able to wash the dishes and it was good that he did so but tell him to ask for help if he happens to wash breakable dishes.</p>
<p>You would also want to enhance your child’s talents. If your child gets to love what he is doing, the chances are he would want to enhance this talents and it will boost a composition on how he will perceive himself. As he develops his talents, help him in the process by encouraging him to do better and praise him. This can give him a sense to succeed in what he is doing.</p>
<p>You would want to address your child by his name. Addressing your child by his name would make him feel special. You would be able to direct to him that you are speaking to him and you want him to grasp the content of what you are saying. This would be a method of building his self- confidence and disciplining him at the same time.</p>
<p>What a child sees, he imitates. Guided by this principle, be a role model to your child. If he sees that you are happy, he will be happy. If you show that you appreciate yourself, he will learn to appreciate you and himself. Show your child that you can handle situations even at difficult times to make him a strong person. Your child sees you as his mirror, so whatever you show him, he will surely follow.</p>
<p>Giving your child self- confidence is an ongoing pursuit. It develops him to have faith in himself that contributes to his well- being. With faith in himself, he will be capable to motivate himself in performing better.</p>

<p>Loving is said to be both the most beautiful yet the most tragic thing man is capable of. There is blissful happiness in knowing that someone loves you completely as you are. Then things take a tragic turn when a relationship ends. Although wallowing in grief and sadness seems to be the easiest thing to do, one must practice positive thinking after a breakup. Positive thinking is simply a change of perspective, seeing opportunity everywhere. There is always something good that can come out from every bad situation. How do you practice positive thinking after a break-up?</p>
<p>Remind yourself that you were someone before the relationship. That someone was someone so beautiful and good that someone else fell in love with. Then now, take yourself and see how you&#8217;ve changed in the relationship. How you became a better person. Now, you see, you are worth all the love in the world and you deserve to be happy. Believe that the breakup came about because there is a greater purpose for you in life. Positive thinking after a breakup can help you heal faster because seeing the light in the darkness is bound to help you find your way.</p>
<p>Now, there are two ways positive thinking after a breakup can go. First, you can realize that you want your ex back and thinking positively can help with that. Seeing the best in yourself and believing that both of you are meant to be can help mold you into someone that should be loved back. When you believe that something is truly meant for you, you adapt and become a person worthy of that. You learn to change whatever it is that had come between the two of you. Maybe then, you could get back together.</p>
<p>Second, you can find out that you are better off without him. Seeing yourself in another light brings about an inner desire to be the best and choose the best for your own self. Be confident and feel that you are what you want to be. With it, comes love that no one else can give you. Love for yourself. When you love who are and you are comfortable with your own self, a light from within shines brightly and no one can resist that glow. You will find yourself enveloped with love from all around you.</p>
<p>With whatever you choose, positive thinking after a breakup can help you get what you truly desire. It is simply a matter of changing your perspective and believing in yourself. You are lovable and deserved to be loved in the best way possible.</p>
