<p>When we turn on the television or just go to certain places, we see things that break our heart. It’s even most likely that we’re going through at least one of the major problems we hear of. Recession is one; money flow could be “not what it used to be.” Another could be war. A family member could very well be out there fighting for more than just our family. From big problems like that, to ones that revolve around our family, friends or jobs, each one of us has our own unique mix of challenges. No matter what the case you have, it’s true that there are so many problems in life, but be positive you can surely get through.</p>
<p>The Solution in People</p>
<p>Sometimes, it’s really quite a hard task to stay positive, especially when you’ve been having a bad day. Your morale is down, you don’t feel like fighting. Seek comfort in company. Surround yourself with positive people. Don’t let “downers” get to you because it’ll just fuel the whole cycle more. Turn to your friends and family. Take your mind off stress. It won’t solve all of your problems, but it would certainly put your mind in a state that would help you take on the challenges before you.</p>
<p>The Solution in Things</p>
<p>If you can’t find good company, try to find good things to do. Why not get a motivational book? Become engrossed in it and learn from it well. You can also listen to good songs with an upbeat tune and words that either calm your mind or make it less pessimistic or problematic. Are you in desperate need of a laugh? You can turn on the television and instead of turning to dramas, try a good sitcom and make your heart feel light. There are so many problems in life, but be positive life isn’t all problems, have time for some fun and laughs every once in a while.</p>
<p>The Solution in You</p>
<p>You can try a lot of things that could help you cope. First, why not keep busy? Find something interesting, learn something new and be the best you can be with it. Since it would be something you love, not only would it keep your mind occupied, but working at it won’t feel like work in a taxing sense. As you get better, you’ll get a phenomenal feeling and the positive thoughts would just flow and flow. If you can’t invest your time in that, you can take a small bit of time to exercise for some time a few days a week. Feeling underappreciated? Reward yourself. Give yourself the break you need. If possible, make it something tangible that can serve as a reminder that you’re doing good.</p>
<p>There are so many problems in life, but be positive. There’s a lot you can do to boost your spirit and get you going again. Happiness is a choice, make it. Take steps towards it and don’t let life’s problems get you down.</p>

<p>Winston Churchill once said, “For myself, I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else.” Think about it and let it sink for a while.  Do you get any real benefit from furrowing your brow and etching lines into your forehead? Is that heavy feeling one you yearn to keep you company through all your days? No. No one wants to feel such baggage when they have nothing on their hands. People want to feel light, joyous and truly alive.</p>
<p>Laughter is the best medicine. It’s been said by many on many an occasion. Some may shrug it off and though it may not exactly be the sought after cure for the common cold, it has some bearing. Certain studies show that the optimism and pessimism influence your health and well-being. So let’s look into a few reasons why this attitude</p>
<p>Positive Thinking Pros</p>
<p>Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you have to go overboard and smile at anything and everything that comes your way. Positive thinking is not losing your head in bad situations. This is a state of mind where you are realistic. You know that there are things abound that you wouldn’t readily describe as desirable circumstances and instead of letting it get you down, you take it all head on.</p>
<p>Studies show that optimism or thinking positive thoughts have a good effect on not just our emotions but our physical well-being as well. It has many health benefits. With positive thoughts come longevity, better coping skills and less distress and depression. It also decreases the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, gives you not only better psychological but also physical well-being and wouldn’t you know it, it also gives you better resistance to the common cold!</p>
<p>Reasoning behind It</p>
<p>No one knows for sure why those who have such a mindset reap these benefits. It is thought that with such an outlook, you cope with stress better, minimizing its harmful effects. Also, people who go on thinking positive thoughts seem to live lifestyles that are healthier overall. They eat better, exercise more and are less prone to drink and smoke.</p>
<p>In truth, we don’t need studies to research on positive thoughts and how it affects our well-being. It isn’t very hard to see where optimism takes us. From what Churchill said, it’s true, what else can we do? Instead of asking, “why go for positive thinking” ask, “why not?” We can let the baggage go. It is all about opening up our minds, embracing reality and facing life’s challenges head on, seeing it as a chance to better ourselves instead of life’s punishment. By opening ourselves to life, we can stop merely existing and start truly living.</p>

<p>Mahatma Gandhi once said, “A man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks, he becomes.” Taking that idea into consideration, when we think thoughts of failure, don’t we end up demoralized, helpless and, in effect, fail by doing so? And when we aspire for more, believe that we cannot be bound; do we not turn out to be ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things?</p>
<p>Why Bother?</p>
<p>What we feel, believe and know rest in what we think. Though sometimes you feel helpless, you’re very much in control of yourself. It is our choice of which state we’d like to fall into. A lot of times, it’s just about the attitude. In life, intelligence or talent can only get you so far. If you’re pessimistic, sooner or later, the negativity would get the better of you and whatever gift you have would be put to waste. However, with positive thinking or the right attitude, you’ll find yourself tackling whatever life throws at you regardless of your smarts or abilities. In school, it’s about the grades but you won’t get the grades without the right attitude. In the real world, you get the job with what you’ve done with school but what keeps you there is the E.Q. and where do we attribute that? It’s thanks to positive thinking as well.</p>
<p>The Tactic</p>
<p>To get along well with positive thinking you have to take certain steps. First of which is to commit. Give yourself to it. Bring the optimism in everything you do. Don’t split yourself and put fifty percent into family and fifty percent into everything else, because what is fifty percent? It is mediocrity. Go beyond. Excel with optimism by practicing it.</p>
<p>Next, you have to know you’re in control. Structure your life. Don’t believe that life is a result of everything just changing as you wait for it all to affect you. Take life and make it yours. Don’t let chaos reign within you.</p>
<p>Finally, challenge yourself. Winston Churchill once said that “the pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Be realistic. Know you won’t have the best mindset overnight but believe and take steps to embrace positive thinking. Take opportunities to better yourself and instead of criticizing yourself, take the chance to better yourself instead.</p>
<p>How you want your life to be is in your hands. We have no control over everything, but we do have control over ourselves. Nothing can limit us but ourselves. Think positive, commit to thinking positive and challenge yourself to improve yourself. Upon achieving the right mindset, everything else would follow.</p>

<p>Do negative thoughts ever just creep up on you, catching you unaware, and suddenly you just can’t help but thinking about it over and over again? When you get into a situation, do ever just think that you’re just going to fail no matter what you do? Do you ever think that there are things that you just can’t do, and that you can never measure up? Are there times where you continually think about all the bad things in life and how nothing ever goes your way? If you said yes to any of that, you may just have obsessive compulsive negative thinking disorder. It is a disorder wherein you just can’t help but think negative thoughts.</p>
<p>Overcoming obsessive compulsive negative thinking disorder is not that hard. Understand that you just can’t stop thinking about it; the best thing to do is to replace these thoughts with something positive. Not thinking about it will only cause you to obsess about it more and more. So you have to replace these thoughts with something healthier, something that will help you to become a happier person. You see, the key to overcoming obsessive compulsive negative thinking disorder is to start thinking about something happier, better and more positive.</p>
<p>So, how do you this? Whenever you catch yourself thinking something negative, answer back with something positive. For example you think that you’re going to fail a test, so what do you do? You start thinking, I may not fail. I may actually do well. In fact, I know I can pass and even ace this test. At first, it may be challenging to change the way you think but over time and with practice, it just becomes easier and easier until it comes to a point that you don’t even have to think about it so much. It now becomes something automatic, something that just comes to you naturally.</p>
<p>Overcoming obsessive compulsive negative thinking disorder can make it possible for you to become someone better. It is a chance to start seeing the world in a new light and believing that there is always a silver lining to every cloud. Once you start thinking positively, better things start coming to you and before you know it, you are now where you want to be. You have already attained your goals and you are now happy. In fact, you may even forget that you ever had obsessive compulsive negative thinking disorder.</p>

<p>The best way how to dispel negative thoughts would be to replace them. Remember that no two objects can occupy the same place at the same time? Well, the same principle applies with your thoughts as well. Simply ignoring the thought will only cause it to come back stronger than ever and more insistent as well. Negative thoughts thrive not only at your attention but also when you just flat out ignore them as well. So, to make sure that these thoughts do not haunt you, you must be able to replace them with something else. That way, your consciousness will be occupied by something and negative thoughts will no longer have space to settle in. <p>It happens again and again and again. Your thoughts just seem to revolve around the same things time and time again. It’s consuming you, slowly. You try to sleep but you can’t. There’s a buzzing, a nagging, an annoying voice in your head that won’t give you peace. It haunts you. You can’t get anything done. You know it has to stop. This, my friend, is the manifestation of the compulsive thinking disorder.</p>
<p>I’ll Never Get over It</p>
<p>Getting over the compulsive thinking disorder is a task with difficulty that’s equivalent to its severity. A few worrisome thoughts are acceptable and very much normal. Having thoughts that seem to take over your life however, letting it stop you in your tracks instead of moving steadily forward is highly unhealthy. It’s really bad if you let it drag you to the past and keep you there.</p>
<p>If you really think about it, it would be easy to conquer this disorder. You just really have to want it and you must be willing to commit to beating it because there’s a simple solution that can pose to be very difficult if you go on about it with the ways of a compulsive thinking disorder. What is it? It’s just to focus on positive thoughts and believe in them. Try hard to bring yourself peace. But again, of course, everything’s easier said than done especially with a stubborn attitude born from this disorder.</p>
<p>Oh Yeah? So what’s the Plan?</p>
<p>The best plan you could have to defeat compulsive thinking disorder is to try to kill every negative thought as soon as it comes. When you notice that your thoughts are starting to get sour, go for a positive rebuttal. You can think, “I’m not going to have any fun at the party” then go “but then again my friends are there so it’ll be okay. In fact, it can be more than okay.” It may be hard to do at first from its sheer unfamiliarity and how it’s so opposite to what you’re used to, but like wit all skills, all you need is a bit of practice. Do yourself a favor and don’t lose heart with this one. The more you do it, the easier it gets and the more it’d seem like an automatic reflex.</p>
<p>Beating compulsive thinking disorder is your chance not just to better your mood or yourself as a person, but it can better your life in general. Soon you’d find things looking up your way and that you’re getting to places you want to be in life. Get out of the shadows, see life in a whole new light.</p>

<p>We all go through it. It’s not a select punishment for a select group of people. We wake up with our body heavy, feeling like there’s a ton holding us down. You don’t know how, but there’s a frown plastered on your face and it feels like it’s going to stay. Just about anything bad that could happen, does and the dark cloud over you won’t budge. However, as long as the day isn’t over, there’s hope. To be happy when having a bad day is very much possible. There’s no secret magic formula to it. There are many ways to go about it.</p>
<p>Do Something for Your Body</p>
<p>There are quite a few tactics to employ that would let you be happy when having a bad day. One is exercise. With exercise, your body releases certain hormones that help boost your mood. Likewise, you could eat foods that also release the same hormones like chocolate. This may just be where we get the term, “comfort food.” Have no time to exercise and don’t want to bust your diet? A nice relaxing massage or even aromatherapy can help clear your thoughts and decrease all the negativity. If you can, you may even want to sleep early and just prepare yourself for a better day.</p>
<p>Do Something for Your Mind</p>
<p>Chances are, if you’re having a bad day, you are under great stress. It may be because you aren’t doing something you should, so why not try hard to accomplish a task that’s been nagging at you non-stop? It may just be the trick to bring you peace of mind. If that doesn’t work out or isn’t the case, why not listen to some classical or calming music? You can even just opt to get some peace and quiet. You can also try meditation. Clear your thoughts or organize them someplace removed from chaos or mess. The best thing to do is to arrange your thoughts and think positive. Go about how your day has been so far and what you can do to save it.</p>
<p>Do Something for Your Soul</p>
<p>Happiness, smiles, laughter, they’re all contagious. Why not try to do a good deed or a random act of kindness for someone? You can also just let the stress out and talk to someone close to you. If you really just want to go crazy, do something silly with kids and just be carefree. It may have no point or reason, but it’s just that fact that makes you free. Do what you want to do, act the way you feel inside.</p>
<p>There are more than a thousand and one ways to be happy when having a bad day. It depends on how you are as a person and what makes you happy. It never hurts to try and change your thinking from negative to positive. Don’t force it and don’t add to your stress. Be patient. Let the positive thoughts carry you to where you want to be.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well the year is almost done and I am hoping that 2010 is a better year than this one was. They say that things happen in &#8220;3&#8217;s&#8221; and after the last couple of months or so I am starting to believe in this saying. I find it somewhat ironic that I started this blog about positive thinking and using the power of the mind to change your life just as a couple of minor calamities befell me.</p>
<p>You see back along I was performing at an awards ceremony and a PA speaker was pulled down on to my head resulting in a trip to casualty and concussion. Due to the after effects form this accident (that I am still suffering from) I had to start employing a fair degree of positive thinking to help cope with my mental state. Hence starting this website and becoming involved in this area.</p>
<p>Next up was the flood that occurred in my apartment which I mentioned in a post. Yes it was a shock and a hassle (still can&#8217;t use the room) but I tried to put it in perspective and realise it is only a temporary problem from which I will get a completely re-carpeted flat!</p>
<p>And just to round things off nicely, my third episode occurred on Christmas eve whilst I was playing in a local pub. After we&#8217;d finished playing I suddenly became aware that my jacket was missing. I couldn&#8217;t find it anywhere and it had both my car and apartment keys in it. It became clear that it had been stolen and even clearer that I would have to leave my car illegally parked and would not be able to get in to my apartment. On Christmas day.</p>
<p>I had planned to drive to my family&#8217;s for Christmas, but this now looked doubtful. I realised that I really had to get into my flat as the de-humidifier that was drying the flooded room would possibly over flow, so couldn&#8217;t be left on for too long. So the only option was to smash a window to gain entry. I enlisted the help of the drummer (they relish this sort of thing) and got in.</p>
<p>Next day I boarded up the window and tried to think positively about the situation. I had no food in the house as I assumed I was going away, shops were shut and couldn&#8217;t leave the house as I wouldn&#8217;t be able to get back in due to the communal front door.My spare keys were at a friends house and he was away for Christmas for a few days.</p>
<p>As of today, I have got my keys for the apartment, refitted a new pane of glass and had my car towed to the garage where they recoded the immobilizer. This has been an expensive an inconvenient time, especially as it was Christmas. Despite all this I have used positive thinking techniques to maintain my positive outlook even though you despair of the sort of people who seem to set out to deliberately make your life difficult and unnecessarily expensive.</p>
<p>You just have to not let it get you down or think that someone&#8217;s put some kind of &#8220;hex&#8221;on you-it purely and simply a run of bad luck which, all things being equal, will result in some good luck come your way in the future. I truly believe this, after all I am a positive thinker.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Maybe it is turning into one those weeks after all. You may have read about the flood that I was greeted with on my return to my apartment a couple of days ago. It is still a right old mess and starting to make everything else smell a bit damp and mouldy. Not too nice to live in. But I am staying positive about the situation and just trying to get on with things despite being now cooped up in one room.</p>
<p>So just when I was getting used to a slightly different way of doing things at home and thinking that I was still able to do what I need to do work-wise on a daily basis, I somehow managed to delete the homepage of this blog by messing about with my ftp program. Now I am not the most tech-savvy person around but usually, if I do something on my computer that I really didn&#8217;t mean to, and it causes what on the face of it looks like a distaster that will ruin days or weeks of work, with a bit of thought and a calm approach I can put it right again.</p>
<p>Well if you are reading this I must have been able to do it this time as well. But, I have to be honest, that at the time it looked like I had really managed to screw myself. I stared at the screen of my ftp client long and hard but nothing popped into my head as regards how the hell I was going to reverse what I had done. And just a little, I started to panic that I had lost weeks and weeks of hard work. I realised that if there was any chance of getting the blog back to its original and fine-looking self I was going to need help.</p>
<p>Now, the guys at the help desk of my web hosting are very quick in their response to support queries so with quiet confidence I sat back and awaited a reply to my problem. Time passed. And a bit more. Still no response. This was unusual, so I started to think about the consequences of the lost/wasted time this was costing. I began running through all the work I had planned to do that day but now couldn&#8217;t. And I started to feel a general air of gloom descend on a day that I originally thought was going to be productive and positive.</p>
<p>What had happened was that a perceived calamity which in all truth I made out in my mind to be far worse and of greater magnitude that it really was in all probability had turned my initial positive mental attitude into a negative one. My thoughts had been positive to start with, but had been eroded and replaced with negative ones. This can happen to us all too easily if we let it.</p>
<p>But there are ways to limit this kind of mental slide from positive to negative. There are techniques we can learn to mentally take a stepback from whatever life throws up to try and ruin our day. It may take some practice (looks like I need more!) but it can be done.</p>
<p>What did I do? Well I wrote this blog post of course-in notepad! I took a few moments to guage my reaction to this set-back, and then tried to practice what I preach and look for positives in seemingly negative scenarios. A bit of self anaysis and talk can be a good thing, as it allows you to put things into perspective more logically, gives you a chance to weigh up your options and then proceed with the best plan of action.</p>
